Hillmorton Locks
looking south-east.

The three locks at Hillmorton near Rugby on the 78 mile Oxford Canal were duplicated in 1840 to reduce waiting times as part of the modernization of the canal, which also reduced its length by 14 miles by cutting out loops. The Oxford Canal was busy and profitable carrying Warwickshire coal and other goods to the Thames and London right up until nationalization in 1946.
