Chester Canal
The Chester Canal was built in the 1770’s to link Chester with Nantwich. It eventually became part of the Shropshire Union Canal which reaches down to Wolverhampton and the Midland Canal System. The canal skirts round the famous Roman walls making use of a moat like ditch which was built by the Romans. It cuts through the solid sandstone with houses and offices sitting high above.
